AssistiveWare Pictello 1.7 Adds German and Australian Children's Voices

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - May 22, 2013 - Today AssistiveWare® announced the launch of Pictello™ 1.7, a visual storytelling app for iOS, premiering the industry’s first-ever genuine German and Australian Text to Speech children's voices. Recordings of real children speaking in their natural language provide the foundation for the natural sounding voices. The company also announced a new Australian adult female voice in Pictello.

"Now young German and Aussie Pictello users can tell their stories in a voice that is both age appropriate and natural sounding," said David Niemeijer, AssistiveWare founder and CEO. “The addition of Lisa, Australian adult female voice, completes the Australian voice family.”

Version 1.7 includes the new German children voices (Jonas and Lea), Australian children voices (Liam and Olivia) and the new Australian adult female (Lisa). All voices can be downloaded free of charge from within the Pictello app.

Pictello offers a fun way to create and share talking photo albums and stories and is used by many teachers, students, families and children. Stories can be shared with friends, family, teachers, etc. via free Pictello Sharing Server and as PDF files via email or iTunes File Sharing. Localized in English, Spanish, French, German, Turkish and Dutch, Pictello users can choose from over 90 voices in 27 languages.

The German children voices are made available through the collaborative development effort of AssistiveWare, Acapela Group and Tobii Technology. The Australian voices were co-developed by AssistiveWare and Acapela Group.
