Large stories with large videos can cause problem for users in terms of performance and space on their device. We chose a relatively safe margin so that users on older devices will have a good experience. Additionally, short videos fit best with the purposes for which Pictello was designed and will in general lead to a better experience. Users can crop longer videos to create shorter videos after taking a video or during import of an existing video. We may consider increasing the length of video in a future update, but right now we feel 30 seconds offers a good compromise of performance and usability.
